What you most want to know before a climb is what it is really like — how many hours the course actually takes at your own pace, where the views open up, which junctions are easy to miss. Those answers aren't found at a desk; they are only out there on the mountain.

So on this site you can replay the editor's actual GPS track, the measured times, and the photos placed at the exact spots where they were taken, right on the map and the elevation graph. Elevations and coordinates follow the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan; history is traced to its sources; and what isn't known is written as “unknown.” The only aim is that people about to climb can picture their own hike concretely.

From keeping family memories to recording the mountains

Day to day, the editor is the CEO of LINKIDS Inc., which runs LINKIDS — a service for keeping and sharing precious family photos and videos. The wish to record and keep precious time is the same in the mountains. Having come to know the charm of these peaks while living at the southern foot of Yatsugatake, I want to record them with my own feet and camera and hand them to the next person about to climb. This site is an extension of that.
